Commonwealth Agencies involved in combating trafficking in persons
Australia has taken a comprehensive whole-of-government approach to combating trafficking in persons. No single agency can defeat this crime on its own. Agencies co-operate closely to ensure the implementation of their individual efforts complements the work done by other agencies.
Australia is a federation, with six states and two territories, each with their own police force. State, territory and local governments also have a role to play. State police forces are co-operating closely with the Australian Federal Police, including in the development of a comprehensive policing strategy to deal with the crime of trafficking in persons.
