Ms Venamore is a career Departmental officer. She served most recently as Head of the Political Branch in the Australian High Commission, London (2008-2012), and for a period as Acting Deputy Head of Mission in London. She was the Director of the Sea Law section in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2006 to 2008. She served as the Deputy Ambassador in Baghdad (2003-05), where she was awarded the Public Service Medal for services to the Commonwealth of Australia. Ms Venamore was posted to Israel (1994-96). She worked with the Palestinian Authority and the international community for the World Bank (1997-99). She has also worked on climate change negotiations, international law and international security matters since joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1992.
Ms Venamore holds a Masters in International Law from Cambridge University (FCO Chevening scholar), a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the ANU and Bachelors of Arts and Law from the University of Queensland.
