Mr Brendan Berne
Deputy Head of Mission to Korea (Republic of)
Mr Berne joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in 2000. He was recently Assistant Secretary, APEC Branch, a position he held since January 2010. Mr Berne has previously served overseas as Australia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the OECD in Paris from 2004 to 2007.
Prior to joining the Department, Mr Berne worked as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia from 1993 to 1999. From 2008 to 2009, Mr Berne was the Executive Director, Government and Industry Relations, at the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation.
Mr Berne has a Masters of Economics from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from Macquarie University.
