Ms Rhonda Piggott
Deputy Head of Mission to Belgium
Biography
Ms Piggott is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has been Deputy Head of Mission in Brussels since August 2007.
Ms Piggott previously served overseas in Geneva at Australia's Mission to the WTO (1996-99) as First Secretary, later Counsellor, and as Third Secretary in Brasilia (1987-1990).
In Canberra, Ms Piggott has worked in a range of positions covering bilateral issues in South-East Asia and Latin America, corporate management matters (1990-1993), multilateral trade issues (1994-1995 and 2002-2005) and international environment treaty negotiations (1999 to 2002). Before moving to Brussels, Ms Piggott was the lead negotiator for services and investment in Australia's Free Trade Agreement negotiations with China (2005-mid 2007) and Assistant Secretary, Services and Intellectual Property Branch as well as lead negotiator for services and investment in the UAE FTA negotiations with Australia (2004 -2005). She was also a member of the team in the Australia-United States FTA negotiations during 2003.
Ms Piggott holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Master of Public Policy from the Australian National University.
