Mr Crispin Conroy

Ambassador to Chile

Biography

Mr Conroy is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was Third/Second Secretary at the Embassy in Madrid 1990-93 and then in Canberra worked in different areas of the International Organisations and Legal Division (1994-95). Mr Conroy served as First Secretary at the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva from 1995-98. From July 1998 to October 1999 he was Deputy Legal Adviser, and Director of the International Law Section. From December 1999 until December 2002 Mr Conroy was Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Nepal. Prior to taking up his current position as the Ambassador in Santiago de Chile he was the Deputy Head of Mission in Port Moresby (2003-05).

Mr Conroy was born in 1963. He has a Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts in French language and civilization (Hons), as well as post graduate qualifications in International Law, from the Australian National University. He is married with two daughters.
