Tasmania State Director, ‘Alopi Latukefu
Mr ‘Alopi Latukefu has had a varied career across the public, private, academic and community sectors. Mr Latukefu joined the foreign affairs portfolio in 2005 working on Australia’s aid program including as Director for Food Security and Rural Development (2010-2013). From 2008-09 Mr Latukefu worked as adviser and Chief of Staff to the Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs the Honourable Duncan Kerr SC MP who was also member for Denison (Tas).
In 2010 Mr Latukefu was selected as Australia’s candidate for the Government of France’s Personalitie D’avenir (personalities of the future) program.
Prior to joining the foreign affairs portfolio Mr Latukefu worked as the chief executive officer for Goolarri Media Enterprises; as a regional manager for the Outback Digital Network telecommunications project; and in research capacities with various institutions including the National Centre for Development Studies (ANU) and the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW). Mr Latukefu holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Australian National University and has a keen interest in music and the performing arts. He and his partner have two children.
