Negotiations
Overview
On 18 April 2005, Australia and China agreed to commence negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) following consideration of the joint FTA Feasibility Study. The study was completed in March 2005, and concluded that there would be significant economic benefits for both Australia and China through the negotiation of an FTA.

Submissions
The China FTA Taskforce needs information from Australian industry on the specific barriers they face in the Chinese market. The public submission process is a key means to collecting such information.
Submissions need not be lengthy - a short e-mail outlining details of barriers companies face in China would suffice.
The China FTA Task Force will continue to accept submissions during the negotiations. All submissions will be made publicly available on the DFAT website unless the author specifies otherwise.
