Australia-Japan Free Trade Agreement‚ Fourteenth Negotiating Round

The fourteenth round of negotiations on the Australia-Japan Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was held in Tokyo from 14-17 February 2012.
This round saw significant progress of FTA chapter texts and there was good discussion across the broad spectrum of FTA issues including Services and Investment, Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Sanitary and Phytosanitary issues (SPS), Trade in Goods, Customs Procedures, Energy and Mineral Resources, Food Supply, and Dispute Settlement. In goods market access negotiations both sides continued discussionson sensitivities and positions.
Officials will continue to work intersessionally ahead of the next round which is to be held in Canberra during April 2012.
