Australia-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement Negotiations

Public submissions to the Australia-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement negotiations

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade attaches importance to the views of the public on the negotiation of a bilateral free trade agreement with Malaysia, and continues to welcome submissions in this regard.

General guidance on preparing submissions

Approximately fifty-five submissions have been received on the negotiation of a free trade agreement with Malaysia. Submissions focus on all aspects of Australia's trade and economic relationship with Malaysia, and have been lodged by peak industry, professional and non-government bodies, as well as companies, unions and individuals. Some organisations have provided permission for their submissions to be published on the Department’s website, and these appear below.

In 2004, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade called for submissions to the scoping study into an Australia-Malaysia free trade agreement. Sixty submissions were received, and many of these have also been made available. » Public submissions to the Australian Scoping Study
