Australia and Japan – a remarkable commercial relationship
Japan continues to be a vital partner in Australia’s prosperity, buying more of Australian exports than any other country and supplying much needed imports and investment, according to a new report by DFAT’s Economic Analytical Unit. With much of the media spotlight shifting to China, the report is a timely reminder of the enduring and complementary nature of the Australia-Japan relationship over more than 50 years. The report also examines emerging commercial opportunities, the changing nature of the trade and investment relationship, and the likely impact of longer-term climate, economic and demographic factors on the relationship.
