The Economic Analytical Unit

The Economic Analytical Unit is part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is the main agency within the Australian Government responsible for publishing reports analysing major trade and economic issues in overseas markets of relevance to Australia.

Staffed with seven professionals, the EAU also contracts a range of consultants with specific areas of expertise. It draws on a wide range of data and information sources, including Australia’s diplomatic and trade missions around the world, to produce reports and briefing papers intended to assist analysts and decision makers in business, the Australian Government and the academic community.

The Economic Analytical Unit has produced 44 major reports since its establishment in 1990.
