1.  In accordance with paragraph 11.1(ba) of the Legal Services Directions 2005 and Guidance Note 2 of 2006 published by the Office of Legal Services Coordination, the following information is provided in respect of the external legal services expenditure for financial year 2006-2007 for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade:

a. Total External Legal Services Expenditure — $3,422,343.78 (GST excl)

b. External Expenditure on solicitors — $3,319,287.78 (GST excl)

c. External Expenditure on counsel briefed in Australia — $103,056.00 (GST excl)

i. Number of male counsel briefed in Australia — 7

ii. Value of briefs in Australia to male counsel — $93,184.18 (GST excl)

iii. Number of female counsel briefed in Australia — 2

iv. Value of briefs in Australia to female counsel — $9,871.82 (GST excl)

d. Other disbursements are included in the solicitors' fees and are not reported separately.
