DFAT: Portfolio Budget Statements 1999-2000

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

SECTION 3 - BUDGETED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Budgeted financial statements for the Department and Foreign Affairs and Trade are presented in this section. The budgeted financial statements will form the basis of the financial statements that will appear in the Department's 1999-2000 Annual Report, and form the basis for the input into the Whole-of-Government Accounts.

Budgeted Statement of Revenues and Expenses (Budgeted Operating Statement)

This statement provides a picture of the expected financial results for DFAT by identifying full accrual expenses and revenues, which highlights whether DFAT is operating at a sustainable level in the short term.

Budgeted Statement of Assets and Liabilities (Budgeted Balance Sheet)

This statement shows the financial position of DFAT. It enables decision-makers to track the management of the Agency's assets and liabilities.

Budgeted Cash Flow Statement

This statement shows budgeted cash flows, providing important information on the extent and nature of cash flows by categorising them into expected cash flows from operating activities, investing activities and financing activities.

Capital Budget

This shows all proposed capital expenditure funded either through the Budget, as appropriated equity injections or loans and/or appropriations for administered capital, or as funds from internal sources or as funds from other sources.

Non-financial Assets - Summary of Movement

This statement shows only the Budget year 1999-2000.

Note: The Department's 1998-99 audited financial statements were not finalised in time for inclusion in the AIMS database for the Additional Estimates Process. After consultation with DoFA it was agreed the Department would include in the 1998-99 actuals column of the Budgeted Financial Statements (in the following tables) the audited financial statement figures as contained in the 1998-99 DFAT Annual Report.

The Revised 1999-2000 to 2002-03 budget figures appearing in the Budgeted Financial Statements are reproduced from the data contained within AIMS, that is, the effect of the audited 1998-99 Financial Statements has not been factored into the estimates for 1999-2000 to 2002-03.
