 The department presented the Roni Ellis Indigenous Study Awards to two Indigenous students, Melita Berthaly and Jillian Omosigho, in October 2002. The awards are named in memory of Roni Ellis, an Indigenous departmental staff member who died of leukaemia in 2000.
