Northern Territory Office

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is the Federal Government's principal adviser on foreign and trade policy.

The department's Northern Territory Office can assist Northern Territory businesses with interests in trade and investments overseas. We aim to raise awareness and understanding in the Northern Territory of foreign affairs and trade issues and to assist business and the Territory government to make the most of international trade opportunities.

Northern Territory Office Hours and Location

Counter and telephone enquiries (including lodgement or collection of authentications/apostilles):  8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

• Passports
  All applicants for an Australian passport need to be interviewed at either an Australia Post outlet or an Australian Passport Office.  Only applicants who meet a predefined category will be permitted to lodge at the Passport Office. To find out if you qualify and to make an appointment to lodge your application through the Passport Office, you must phone 131 232. The Passport Office is located on the 5th Floor, Northern Territory House, 22 Mitchell St, Darwin.  The office counter business hours are 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.  Passport application forms can be obtained from most Australia Post outlets, downloaded from our passports website or from the Australian Passport Office - Darwin.
• Business Relations Program
  Assistance and advice to business and the Territory Government to help them make the most of international trade opportunities.
• Visitors List
  A list of forthcoming departmental, cultural and other influential persons who are available to attend and speak at meetings with Northern Territory companies, tertiary institutions and Territory Government departments.
• Authentications/Apostilles
  Authentication/legalisation of signatures on documents for use overseas.
