We advertise all vacancies on our e-Recruitment Current vacancies page as well as on the APSjobs website. Vacancies may also occasionally be advertised on other online sites or in the press. DFAT jobs are open to all Australian citizens.

All our selection processes are governed by the requirements of the Public Service Act 1999. Candidates are assessed individually against the relevant selection criteria, as well as comparatively against other candidates for the position. The selection committee (usually three members) will determine applicants' comparative merit for the position based on their application, performance at interview and comments from referees.
