Roland has extensive business and international trade experience and is widely consulted on issues such as trade relations. Business interests include property development and investment, international education & training, travel and tourism, and overseas offices in the Arab region to promote education and training relations, and major projects between Australia and the Arab region, representing Australian universities and government institutions.

Background:
Roland is married with three children, was born in Lebanon in 1955 and migrated to Australia in 1968.
With a long-standing commitment to community and public service, Roland has developed a high profile as a community leader and is well known and respected in government and semi-government circles. He is widely consulted and often speaks on issues such as international relations, media, politics, culture and multiculturalism. For many years, Roland has had extensive involvement in arranging key delegations to promote stronger ties between the Arab world and Australia.
Roland is the recipient of many awards from Australian and foreign Governments in recognition of his service to the Australian community. His awards include:
- Australian Medal for the centenary of federation of Australia awarded by the Prime Minister of Australia for service to the Australian Arab Community.
- Certificate of appreciation awarded by the Premier of Victoria in recognition of voluntary service to the community
- Nomination for the Australian of the Year Award, 2004
Roland’s interests include flying and general Aviation, commercial and legal studies, golf.
