Queensland State Office

Visitors and events

Ambassadors and High Commissioners (Heads of Mission) from our overseas posts regularly visit Queensland and are available to meet senior representatives from industry, universities and State and local governments. They can also be invited as guest speakers at meetings of foreign chambers of commerce and industry, business councils and other groups. If you are interested in engaging our Heads of Mission, please address all correspondence to the Visits Officer at dfatbris@dfat.gov.au. While requests for appointments will be considered, programs may already be finalised.

DFAT also operates a Special Visits Program (SVP) and an International Media Visitors program (IMV). SVPs involve influential or potentially influential individuals who can contribute in their country to a greater understanding of Australia's policies and institutions. They are likely to be people in positions which deal with issues of direct relevance to Australia's foreign and trade policy interests. Similarly, IMVs provide an opportunity for select foreign media representatives to obtain a better understanding of Australia and its key domestic and international issues.
