Queensland State Director, Mr Derek Brown
Mr Derek Brown is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He took up the position of State Director in Queensland on 25 June 2012.
Mr Brown was born in Port Moresby and educated in Brisbane, and Japan. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Modern Asian Studies) degree from Griffith University/Nanzan University and a Master of Literary Studies in Japanese from the University of Queensland/ISS Interpreting College, Tokyo.
Overseas, Mr Brown served as Counsellor (Resources and Energy) at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo; Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Ankara; Deputy Consul-General at the Australian Consulate-General in Osaka, and; Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo. In Canberra, his assignments have included Director, Europe Trade Section and Director, Locally Engaged Staff Management Section.
