Residencies in Indonesia for Australian artists
The Australia-Indonesia Institute often contributes some funding to Asialink's Residency Program with Indonesia in the fields of the Visual Arts and Crafts, Performing Arts, Arts Management and/or Literature.
Residencies are usually of three to four months' duration and each residency offers a specified amount of funding and initial contacts. Artists are generally attached to a host institution and are expected to pursue their own work as well as participate in the life of the organisation and community. This includes giving workshops and public lectures. Every residency is different and negotiated individually.
Residencies are advertised mid-year by Asialink and application material can be downloaded from www.asialink.unimelb.edu.au.
The AII will fund a pilot program for an Indonesian artist’s residency in Australia in 2011-12. This pilot program recognises that while there are opportunities for Australian artists to undertake residencies in Indonesia, there are fewer opportunities to support Indonesian artists in Australia. The AII will invite applications for the pilot residency in early 2012.
