About the Australia International Cultural Council

Role

The AICC’s role is to enhance Australia’s cultural diplomacy efforts and to improve market access for our cultural exports.

Cultural Diplomacy Objectives

The AICC’s cultural diplomacy objectives are to:

  • project a positive image of Australia as a modern, prosperous, sophisticated and technologically advanced country with a rich and diverse culture
  • promote an accurate image of Australia’s Indigenous people overseas
  • promote Australian tourism and education.

It achieves these objectives by:

  • supporting and funding a range of programs that engage, inform and influence target audiences and showcase Australia’s cultural diversity and the quality of our cultural output
  • encouraging institution-to-institution linkages to foster longer-term cooperation and cultural exchange
  • developing strategies to coordinate the international cultural activities of government agencies
  • harnessing additional resources from government and cultural organisations, and financial support from corporate sponsors to augment its work.
