Australian Studies Output Awards
Applications for 2007-08 Australia-China Council Output Awards closed on Monday 29 October 2007.
Output Awards offered by the Australia-China Council (ACC) are open to all Australian Studies Centres (ASCs) in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Output Awards are provided on the basis of activities over the previous academic year. In order to receive an Output Award, ASCs are required to provide proof of output in at least some of the following categories:
1) Research Output and Dissemination
- Books
- Articles in academic journals
- Articles published on the internet and in newspapers
- Conference papers
- Theses
2) Teaching
- Subjects and length of courses
- Number and level of students
3) Professional and Community Activities
Public lectures, conferences, ‘Australia Week’, web developments, speech contests, film weeks, etc
Eligibility
The ACC’s Output Awards are only available to Australian Studies Centres (or equivalent), not to individuals. All recognised Centres and equivalent units (e.g. research institutes) are eligible to apply, including those not previously funded under this scheme.
Award Selection
Awards are decided on a competitive basis. A Selection Committee comprising members of the ACC, representatives of the management committee for the Australian Studies in China Program, and independent academics will review all the applications and award funding according to the level of overall activity. The maximum number of awards that can be funded within the limits of the Program’s budget are awarded Output Awards. All funding decisions will be made by the Australia-China Council. Projects will be selected on merit.
Funding
All funds will be paid in CNY in China. All payments will be made before 30 April 2008.
Selection Criteria
- Funds are awarded on the basis of the Centre’s activities over the previous year, rather than on the basis of proposals for future activities
- The ACC realises that not all Centres will be strong in all areas. Some Centres have chosen to focus on graduate teaching, whereas in other institutions this is not possible; some Centres focus on research, others on public activities. The Selection Committee takes these differences into consideration and values activity in all the areas mentioned
The funds must be spent on Australian Studies activities, but exactly how the funds are divided between different kinds of activities is up to each successful Centre to decide.
Closing Date
2007-8 applications closed on Monday 29 October 2007. No late applications will be accepted.
