Emeritus Professor Mark Wainwright AM

Appointed Chair 9 September 2006 for a period of five years.
Emeritus Professor Wainwright is currently a visiting professor at the University of New South Wales and UNSW Asia Singapore following his retirement from the position of Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of New South Wales which he held for two years from 1 July 2004.
Prior to that appointment, Professor Wainwright had been the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University from mid-April 2004. He was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and International), from January 2001.
Professor Wainwright holds an Honours Degree in Applied Chemistry and a Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, a PhD in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University in Canada and a DSc for his research into skeletal catalysts from the University of South Australia.
Dr Claire Roberts
Appointed 6 March 2006 for three years
Dr Claire Roberts is a Research Fellow in the Division of Pacific and Asian History, The Australian National University andSenior Curator International Decorative Arts and Design, at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.She has a PhD inChinese art history from The Australian National University and has written widely on Asian art and material culture. Her exhibition and publication projects include The Great Wall of China (2006), Other Histories: Guan Wei's fable for a contemporary world (2006), China: recent works in porcelain by Ah Xian (2001), Evolution & Revolution: Chinese dress 1700s to 1990s (1997), In Her View: the photographs of Hedda Morrison in China and Sarawak 1933-67 (1993), and Post Mao Product: New Art from China (1992).
Dr Roberts is also a member of many professional associations including the International Council of Museums, the Chinese Studies Association of Australia and The Asian Arts Society of Australia, for which she was a founding committee member. Dr Roberts was also a former ACC award recipient.
Professor Vivian Lin
Appointed 9 September 2006 for three years
Professor Vivian Lin is Chair of Public Health, School of Public Health, La Trobe University, Melbourne. Since arriving in Australian 1982, she has worked in NSW Health, Victorian Health Department and its successor, National Occupational Health and Safety Commission and Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services. During this time, she has had responsibility for policy, planning, and program development across a wide range of health issues. From 1997-2000, she was Executive Officer for the National Public Health Partnership.Professor Linhas been the inaugural president on the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria since 2000, is currently chair of the Australian Network of Academic Public Health Institutions (ANAPHI),and serves on the boards of the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health and the Chinese Health Foundation of Australia. Vivian is the author of several key public health texts in Australia and has been consulting for the World Bank, World Health Organization, AusAID and UK Dept for International Development on health sector projects in China for over a decade.

Hobgood-Brown

Kevin Hobgood-Brown is the Chairman of the Australia China Business Council and is a partner at the international law firm of Deacons. He is on the Advisory Board of the China Research Centre of the University of Technology, Sydney and is on the Board of the Asia Pacific Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (Australia) Ltd. Mr. Hobgood-Brown has lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei. From 1983-1987, he taught on the law faculty of Beijing University.

Susan Street
Appointed 15 October 2007 for three years
Professor Susan Street has a long history of association with China and dance in many guises: as educator, administrator, advisor, guest speaker, judge, writer/editor, choreographer and professional dancer. She is currently Executive Dean of Creative Industries Faculty of the Queensland University of Technology, National President of the Australian Dance Council (Ausdance), and member of the International Advisory Board for the journal Research in Dance Education. Professor Street is a former Arts Advisor to the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Board member of the Hong Kong Ballet, Council member of the Australia Council for the Arts, and Chair of the Education Committee for the World Dance Alliance.

Wai Fong Chua
Appointed 15 October 2007 for three years
Professor Wai Fong Chua holds a number of positions: she is principally the Senior Associate Dean of the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is also a member of the UNSW Council. She is a former member of the External Sustainable Development Advisory Group to the Minerals Council of Australia. Professor Chua has strong professional and family links to China.
Ms Joanna Capon OAM
Appointed 1 January 2008 for three years
Joanna Capon is the Director of her own company, Joanna Capon & Associates. She holds a number of positions in organisations with an arts and health focus including Director of the George Foundation and board member of the following bodies: George Institute for International Health, Museums and Galleries NSW, and Editorial Advisory Board of Art and Australia. Ms Capon is the author of two books (one of which is titled Guide to the Museums of China). She established the art collection at Westmead Children’s Hospital where she is the continuing curator and a member of the Advisory Board and other committees at the hospital.
