The Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) was established by the Australian Government in January 2003, as an initiative to strengthen ties between Australia and Arab countries.

Endeavour Awards scholarship program
The Australian Government’s Endeavour Awards scholarship program will be open for applications from 1 December 2009 for:
- citizens or permanent residents of participating Arab countries (GCC member states, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen) to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia, and
- Australian citizens or permanent residents to undertake study, research or professional development in participating Arab countries (GCC member states, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen).
- Business Guides to the Arab Gulf: The Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) and the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) are pleased to announce the release of six business reports designed to help Australian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) do business with the Arab world. The reports focus on the six countries making up the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
- Water Project benefits the homeland of many Lebanese-Australians. A major water-sector reconstruction project initiated by CAAR in June 2007 was completed in Lebanon in July 2009, improving the livelihoods of local communities in the districts of Bsharreh, Hadchit and Bekaa Kafra, from where many Lebanese-Australians originate.
