Australia-Korea Teacher Exchange Program

The 2007 Australia-Korea Teacher Exchange Program provided 10 Korean educators and 10 Australian educators the opportunity to further their knowledge, understanding and engagement of Australia and Korea. Australian and Korean educators spent 12 days abroad and took part in a series of briefings, site visits and a homestay experience whilst on exchange.

The program promoted intercultural understanding, fostered cross-cultural communication, encouraged Australia-Korea relations, provided networking opportunities, illustrated new pedagogical practices and supported the study of Korea and Australia.

From this experience, Australian and Korean educators were able to develop and include Australia/Korea in their classroom teaching and professional learning. The impact and reach these 20 educators have had from taking part in this prestigious program extends beyond their classrooms and into their schools and local communities.

Since the program’s inception, support from the Australia-Korea Foundation’s has enabled 103 Australian and 131 Korean educators to share knowledge, pedagogical practices and build networks to support and enrich their professional and personal lives. The Australia-Korea Teacher Exchange Program is a highly successful initiative by the AKF managed by the Asia Education Foundation in furthering Australia-Korea relations.
