Focus Country Programs
The AICC mounts country-specific cultural programs which aim to strengthen and deepen ties with the countries through integrated events and activities in the performing arts, visual arts, literature and film.
The Council has undertaken focus country/region promotions in:

- 2002 – Germany and China
- 2003 – Germany and Japan
- 2004 – South-East Asia
- 2005 – Singapore, United Kingdom and India
- 2006 – United Kingdom and India
- 2007 – France and Malaysia
- 2008 – Indonesia
- 2009 – United States
- 2010 – China
- 2011 – Republic of Korea
- 2012 – India
For 2013 and 2014, the AICC will explore opportunities to deepen cultural engagement and exchange with Africa and Latin America.
2010 Shanghai World Expo
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade managed Australia’s presence at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo on behalf of the Australian Government. The Expo took place from 1 May 2010 through to 31 October 2010 and during this period, the Australian pavilion received 8,182,266 visitors. A targeted cultural program consisting of sixty two performers, ranging from street theatre and contemporary music to modern music bands, entertained the crowds with 441 performances.
